When a visitor enters a site which employs social networking buttons from sites such as Google or Facebook the corresponding share buttons start sending immediately information from this particular visitor to their motherships. German legislation has found that this violates the data privacy rights of a user because she neither knows nor can control what kind of data is sent and when it is sent. 2ClickShare implements the 2-click-share buttons by heise.de as a module for Joomla!. Currently Facebook, Twitter, and GooglePlusOne are supported. The buttons appear greyed out on the page. If the visitor wants to use them and agrees with sending data to Facebook, etc. she has to activate the buttons with one click and then send her recommendation, tweet, etc. with a another - 2 clicks. Additionally, this provides for performance gains since the buttons are not available on page load.
