How to Make More Copies of this module

You may not be satisfied with only one ad block on your site, right? You will probably want to add more. Here's how:

Do not try to install it repeatedly as that is not possible and not necessary.  Open the list of all modules in your Joomla admin backend ("Modules > Site Modules" in Joomla 1.0 and "Extensions > Module Manager" in Joomla 1.5). Check the box to the left of the Joomlaspan AdSense module, titled as "Sponsored Links". Then go to the top of the page and click on the 'Copy' button on the right top. A copy of the module will be created and placed under the previous. It will read 'Copy of...'.

Now open that and change the parameters. All parameters can be configured afresh, including the position and size of ads.

You can make as many copies as you want, but please remember that only three Google AdSense ad units and three link units are allowed per page.

Superb Module!!
Any website is not possible without this module..

how to upgrade ?

Every time when there in new version I have to uninstall & then reinstall which force us to create again Module copies.

Is there any way to upgrade I mean through FTP or else

Excalibur

Agree, superb module.

The traditional method of upgrading is to uninstall the previous and install the new version. However, as Sunny mentions, we lose the module copies and all parameters.

What I do: Just replace the files of the old module with the new module with either FTP or through cPanel. Sometimes, if the FILENAME is changed, we need to maintain the OLD filenames. For example, if mod_adsense_joomlaspan_3_clicksafe.php/xml were the names of the files earlier and a new version comes with the name 4 instead of 3 in the title, I just maintain the old filesnames (with 3), but the content of the files will be new (watchout for a line in the XML file that calls the php and rename accordingly too).

Basically, it is possible but we need to be able to modify a few things.

Great Module! I installed for Joomla 1.5x and had to enable the legacy mode. Is it supposed to work like that when it is supposed to be for 1.5 Native? If not what do I do uninstall and reinstall with the changes mentioned by Excalibur to keep previous work?

July 10, 2008

Gail,
The Joomla 1.5 module works NATIVELY with Joomla 1.5 and there is NO need to enable the legacy mode. Just make sure you download the version that has 1.5 in its filename.
There is no need to do what Excalibur has mentioned above. Just uninstall and reinstall from "Extensions > Install/Uninstall", unless you want to achieve what Sunny was concerned with above...

Admin, Your prompt response was much appreciated, I did install the incorrect download and the 1.5 installed perfectly. However when disabling the legacy mode the website is no longer accessable from the frontend. Any ideas? As I'm a newby I am inclined to create a dummy site with the latest Joomla 1.5 download and transfer everything to that.

Great module,

Is it possible to change font and fontsize? so it has the same font/fontsize as my website.

admin
July 12, 2008

: If you have used the 'correct' version, then our module has no effect on legacy mode. Please check if you have any other extension that needs legacy mode.

: Sorry, No. That option is not with the publishers. Google rotates the font-face randomly and the font-size is based on the ad format and the number of ads shown in the block.

Admin, thanks sooo much for your help. I did find another extension requiring legacy mode. All fine now. Thanks again!

: Sometimes the ads take sometime to start appearing after you install the code. Just wait for a few hours and it should be fine.

I installed the module...all straight forward and easy. The only thing I have to do is insert my publisher-ID and the ads will populate??? Or is it the ad ID?

I am having trouble figuring out how to get each ad I set-up within adsense to display in the module. For example, I set-up ads based on the "referrals" setting and a separate ad using "image ads". How do I get the image ads to display in the module, I don't see where I insert the adsense code. Appreciate your help!!

I just shifted my 3 year old travel related website to joomla and successfully installed / implemented adsense module. Working with this module is so smooth and great fun. thanks for keeping such a wonderful product free.
However, ads on my homepage are all irrelevant and related to joomla / joomla templates / webdesign. whereas all other pages its almost same as my old site? I tried everything and irrespective of whatever content I put on home page, ads remains same. Any clue why?

Hi,

I've installed the module, and everything seems to be working fine, however, I am seeing a problem in Adsense reporting. I see that it is showing the ads, as my impression count is increasing, but it is not crediting it to any of the channels.

In other words, say I have 100 impressions reported by Adsense. I'd see only 10 of them credited to channels on another site that is not running this module. So obviously 90 impressions are served up, but they are not assigned to the three channels I've created for this site. I've checked and doublechecked the channel numbers in the module settings - everything seems to be right.

What am I missing? Please help.

Excellent module, thanks! Anybody know how to get rid of the little arrows google puts near multiple ads to let you scroll through more ads?

- probably not coming from this module but from google
- i commented out the google_ui_features in the module code but that made no difference
- strangest thing, the arrows appear on the live site but not on my development box running xampp; everything else is the same
- can't find any info on this in google's adsense help

thx for any assistance!

Thanks, and this is working great...once I figured out that I needed to add "pub-" at the beginning of my publisher id in the configuration. I had only entered the digits, not realizing I also needed to input the "pub-" prefix. Ad impressions started to appear just fine in the Google adsense reports immediately after I made that correction.

How can I make the ads show on EVERY page and not just on pages linked to the menu? I have a large site that only has a few menu links, the rest are content links within the articles. I can make it show on every page if I also select HOME but I want them to show on every page BUT the home page...

June 12, 2009

Hi
Thanks for this module. ON the 'clicksafe' version for 1.0.x, where it says enter publisher number, do you have to include the "pub-" before the long number provided by Google for it to work, or just the long number?
Thanks

Hi
Thanks for the great module, but for some reason on my website it shows it above the user2 position in IE8 (in compatibility mode), it works fine in Firefox. It's OK on some pages, but in the contact us page and on some user menu pages the leaderboard is displaced and above the user 2 position.

I set up my parameters for the google adsense to show on specific pages, but it only shows on the home page. Anymore clues on why they would only show on one page of the site?

Why do the ads take such a long time to generate on a page? A couple pages I thought there were NO ads, they appeared about 10 minutes later. Is that normal for an adsense module? I know the actual adsense code on a regular web page show up immediately.

Thanks for any support.

Sometimes, the ads take a bit of time to show on a new site or at least new implementation of AdSense on the site. Please wait for a while and they will show.

As for channels, it is not mandatory to have one. But if you want to track the performance of your ads individually, you can assign channels. Create and get the channel number here: (log in to your AdSense first and click this).

Great and easy to install module. Thanks.
Is there a way to direct this Adsense module for google to only consider the articles (i.e. limit it to section/category ID)? I kept getting ads based on my calendar module when I navigate using the calendar. See

OK, so when I installed the module, ads started up immediately without configuring the module, Im guessing this is from the description code built in to the module- am I correct? looking at the code I copied from google, I dont see a place where I can put it in the module. Do I just copy my "google ad client" number and place that in the publisher ID field in the module parameters section? Do I need the google ad slot number from the code? Please help!
